As an Early Childhood Education Professor at Sheridan College for the past two decades and a volunteer for over 12 years on the School Councils of East Ridge Community School and the former Sydenham Community School, I have had the privilege of working alongside families from Meaford and the surrounding communities. I would like to bring my grassroots efforts, knowledge, advocacy, and experience to the Board in a meaningful way to ensure that our children’s education reaches its potential, while ensuring that the families who support them have voices that are not only heard, but that action follows.
I believe in supporting our system where it works, while challenging some of the systemic problems that hold us all back. As a parent of 4 children in Bluewater schools and as a professional in education, I have experienced many of these challenges firsthand and have heard from many others – educators, teachers, administrators, parents, grandparents and, most importantly, children. I would like to help influence change and celebrate our many achievements.
I have experienced both the rewards and difficulties of including all learners from each side of the table, personally supporting children in the role of Resource Consultant/Teacher, frontline worker… and as a parent of children with unique learning needs. I want to ensure that every child in Meaford and The Town of Blue Mountains has the opportunity to learn, develop and thrive.
I have attended countless sporting competitions over the years and while I will continue to cheer loudest for my children on the Falcons, I look forward to also cheering for the Thunder and Cobras. I would be honoured to have your support and the opportunity to serve our community.
