Meaford International Film Festival Announces Line-up for 20th Edition

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the Meaford International Film Festival (MIFF) will be returning to Meaford Hall, September 25-27. Featuring international award-winning films and special guest interviews, the festival is a fundraiser for the Meaford Culture Foundation, which supports arts and culture programs in the community.

This year’s festival will include two Oscar-winning documentaries. In No Other Land, Palestinian activist Basel Adra films his community being destroyed by Israel’s occupation. During his efforts, he builds an unlikely friendship with Yuval Abraham, an Israeli journalist, who joins his fight. The two men accepted the Best Documentary Feature Oscar in 2025.

Mr. Nobody Against Putin, the 2026 Oscar winner in the same category, will also be shown. The film is made by Pavel Talankin, a Russian teacher/videographer who is forced to document his school’s delivery of the new government-mandated propaganda curriculum about the Ukraine war.

The festival will close with the BAFTA-winning film I Swear which tells the inspiring life story of John Davidson, notable Tourette’s Syndrome campaigner.

I’m thrilled to be involved with MIFF for this milestone edition and grateful to be bringing these important films to the big screen. It is truly inspiring what some filmmakers have to go through to tell their stories,” said Anna den Hengst, Artistic Director, MIFF. “This year’s selection will make our audiences laugh and cry, and most importantly, think.”

Other films include The President’s Cake, Iraq’s official 2026 Oscar entry, and Canadian film Still Mine starring James Cromwell. Each screening will be accompanied by a short film by an emerging filmmaker from the Grey Bruce Youth Film Festival.

Part of what makes MIFF a unique film festival are the special dinners hosted at Meaford Hall ahead of each evening screening. Brasserie Lovebird, Station 87, and The Nomad Home Chef are the three restaurants hosting this year’s dinners. Each evening screening will also be followed by an after-party in the historic Meaford Hall galleries.
