Meaford Legion Announces Winners of 100th Anniversary Poster Contest

The Centennial Committee of the Meaford Legion Branch 32 has announced the winners of its 100th Anniversary Poster Contest, which invited local students to express the themes of Service, Sacrifice, and Community through their artwork.

The winning entries are:

1st Place: Victor Schatkowsky — $30

2nd Place: Charlotte Turner — $20

3rd Place: Kinsley Carbert — $10

The Centennial Committee was thrilled with the enthusiastic response from the students and would like to thank everyone who participated. The creativity, effort, and imagination displayed in the submissions made judging both exciting and challenging. We hope every student had as much fun creating their posters as we did viewing them,” said the Legion.

“We are incredibly proud of every student who participated in this year’s poster contest,” said Steve Rice, president of Meaford Legion Branch 32. “The artwork reflects the spirit of service, sacrifice, and community that has defined our Legion for the past 100 years. We look forward to celebrating this historic milestone with the entire community on August 15.”

As the Legion celebrates its 100th Anniversary, they would also like to remind the community that first-year Legion membership is free during their centennial year. The Royal Canadian Legion is not just for veterans or serving military members – it is an organization for everyone who wants to support veterans, strengthen their community, and preserve the values of service, remembrance, and volunteerism.

We invite everyone to become part of the Meaford Legion family as we look forward to the next 100 years of Service, Sacrifice, and Community in Meaford,” said the Legion. “Mark your calendars for Saturday, August 15, 2026, when the Meaford Legion will celebrate its 100th Anniversary with a full day of commemorative events and community celebrations. Be sure to watch for displays in local businesses throughout Meaford with details about the day’s activities. The Meaford Legion looks forward to celebrating this historic milestone with the entire community.”
