OPP Conducting Targeted Enforcement at Intersections

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continue to highlight that many intersection collisions are preventable through safe and attentive driving.

Collisions at intersections often occur due to behaviours such as failing to yield, incomplete stops, or driver inattention. These actions may seem minor but can have significant and lasting consequences.

“Every preventable collision represents a life impacted-often permanently, and our enforcement efforts are focused on reducing risky driving behaviours and improving safety,” said Staff Sergeant Julie McLeod, West Region OPP Traffic and Marine.

Drivers can reduce risk by:

  • Remaining fully focused and attentive while driving
  • Following all traffic control devices and signage
  • Taking the time to assess each intersection carefully
  • Avoiding distractions such as mobile devices.

Safe driving is not just about reaching a destination – it is about ensuring everyone arrives safely.

Every decision made behind the wheel has the potential to protect or endanger lives. Motorists are reminded that safe driving habits not only help avoid penalties but also save lives.
