Author Zanne Raby Closes Out Coffee House Reads Series

The Meaford Public Library is pleased to host Zanne Raby on Thursday, May 7, at 1 p.m. for the final author talk of the Coffee House Reads series.

As a veteran of the Royal Canadian Air Force with nearly four decades of service, Raby brings a high-stakes, authentic perspective to her fiction. This includes her epic space-opera series, The Chronicles of Deneb, and her latest series, Frozen in Time.

Raby will discuss Shelter of Stones, the first novel of the Frozen in Time series. Set in 5,200 BCE in a land of towering mountains and shadowed valleys, it follows Te’a, the chieftain’s daughter and leader, who carries the weight of tradition, protection, and survival of her people. When strangers arrive bearing gifts and the promise of alliance, only Te’a perceives the danger hidden in the bargain. The novel includes archaeology-rich world-building set in the prehistoric Alps, a heroine who stands against the storm of change, and a band pulled between loyalty and alluring new alliances.

Raby did intensive research for this novel including visiting the Alps twice to make sure that the land, flora, and fauna are all accurately depicted, and travelling to see Otzi, the Iceman in the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology in Bolzano, Italy, for further information.

Tickets are $5 per person and can be purchased in advance at the Meaford Public Library (cash and debit accepted). The ticket price includes a hot beverage and sweet treat from The Kitchen.

Personalized copies of Frozen in Time: Shelter of Stones will be available to purchase at the event for $25 each (cash, credit, and e-transfer accepted).
