The community is invited to take part in Save Georgian Bay’s 4th Annual Save the Bay Polar Dip on Saturday, February 22, at Fred Raper Park in Meaford.
This event brings together passionate supporters to raise funds and awareness to protect Georgian Bay and the Niagara Escarpment from TC Energy’s proposed open-loop pumped storage project.
Whether you’re dipping into the icy waters yourself, cheering on brave participants, or donating to a dipper’s fundraising page, there are plenty of ways to get involved in this fun and impactful day.
Event Highlights:
- Location: Fred Raper Park, Meaford
- Date: Saturday, February 22
- Time: Registration starts at 11:30 a.m., First Nations drummers perform at 12:45 p.m., and we dip at 1 p.m. sharp!
The event will feature First Nations drummers, with warm refreshments provided by McGinty’s Cafe to keep everyone energized and cozy.
“The Save the Bay Polar Dip is more than just a chilly tradition – it’s a vital fundraiser to raise awareness about TC Energy’s proposed open-loop pumped storage project in Meaford. If allowed to proceed, Ontario taxpayers would be on the hook for the $7 billion+ project that would cause irreparable harm to the Niagara Escarpment and threaten the freshwater resource of Georgian Bay. The funds raised at this event will go directly toward our fight to stop the project,” said organizers.
Ways to Participate:
- Take the plunge – brave the cold waters to raise funds for the cause!
- Donate – support a fellow dipper or contribute directly to Save Georgian Bay.
- Cheer on the dippers – join the fun and encourage the brave souls taking the plunge!
Dippers who raise $500 or more will receive a limited-edition Save the Bay toque as a token of appreciation for their efforts.
Virtual Dippers Welcome. Can’t make it to Meaford? You can still participate virtually by taking the plunge in your own way, wherever you are.
