Municipality Addresses Canada Post Service Disruption Impacts

Canada Post is experiencing a service disruption due to a national strike. Operations will be shut down for the duration of the strike, leading to delays in service. As a result, residents will not receive water bills, tax statements, cheques, or any municipal letters via Canada Post mail. During this time all documents will be held at the municipal office for pick up during business hours and all payment due dates will remain the same, regardless of bills being received by regular mail. Alternatively, residents are encouraged to sign up for electronic billing where possible.

Sign up for e-billing for water and tax bills by visiting Meaford.ca/eBilling.

Water bills due on December 16 will not be mailed out but are available for pick up at the Municipal Office at 21 Trowbridge Street West, Meaford. For water bill inquiries, call 519-538-1060 extension 1116, or email water@meaford.ca. Learn more about alternative billing payment options for water by visiting Meaford.ca/Water.

Statements of overdue property taxes will not be mailed out. For tax inquiries, call 519-538-1060 extension 1104, or email tax@meaford.ca. Learn more about alternative billing payment options for tax by visiting Meaford.ca/Tax.

Annual Dog License reminders will not be mailed out. Early bird pricing is in effect until March 31, 2025. Payment can be made when applying online at Meaford.ca/DogTags, by calling 519-538-1060, or in person/drop box at the Municipal Office. Purchased dog tags will be mailed out when Canada Post operations resume or can be picked up at the Municipal Office.

If you are currently waiting for payment from the Municipality, please email ap@meaford.ca with your invoice number to confirm if the payment is ready for pick up at the Municipal Office. Cheques are not being mailed out currently, email ap@meaford.ca for more details. The Municipality of Meaford is requesting that residents DO NOT send payment through the mail during the duration of the strike. Alternatively, residents are asked to use an alternative payment method.
