100 Women Who Care Grey Bruce Donate to M’Wikwedong Indigenous Friendship Centre

M’Wikwedong Indigenous Friendship Centre was recently presented with $27,100 by the 100 Women Who Care Grey Bruce.

M’Wikwedong was the chosen charity of the September meeting of this generous group of giving women. This is the third donation for 2024 of 100WWC and each donation has been larger than the last.

Renee Abram, the Executive Director of M’Wikwedong, said the biggest need and the thing the staff asked for most was a vehicle to support people to get the services they provide. M’Wikwedong offers 19 different programs to urban indigenous people across Grey Bruce. Programs stretch across the lifespan, from prenatal to old age, and include Healing and Wellness, Cultural Resources, Indigenous Language, Programs for children of all ages, Supportive Housing, and many more. Consistent reliable transportation was a barrier to participation. M’Wikwedong will now be able to purchase a passenger van to resolve this issue and hire Indigenous drivers thus creating new jobs.

The next meeting of 100WWC will be November 9, at the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre, 33 Victoria St. N., Southampton. It starts at 10:30 a.m., doors open at 10. Meetings are one hour in length, happen four times per year. Each member donates $100 each time to enable powerful impact for the selected charity. 100WWC have seen the power of collective giving grow in Grey Bruce. They would love to have you join them to continue to strengthen the impact in our local communities.
