Notice of Public Information Centre for Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion

The Municipality of Meaford is advising the public of an upcoming Public Information Centre (PIC) that has been scheduled regarding the Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion Project. The Municipality is completing a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) to determine the preferred design alternative for wastewater servicing of the existing residents and businesses in urban Meaford, and to accommodate future growth.

The WWTP Expansion project is required to complete future development within urban Meaford. The existing WWTP runs between 70% and 80% capacity in recent years and does not have the required capacity to accommodate proposed development.

When: Thursday, October 12, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Where: Terrace Room, Meaford Hall (12 Nelson Street East, Meaford).

The PIC will be an informal drop-in format where display boards will showcase significant information and members of the Project Team will be available to answer questions relating to the material being presented and the overall Class EA process.  Public consultation is a key component of this study and will assist in ensuring that members of the community and stakeholders have an opportunity to learn about the Class EA and provide input and feedback. The purpose of the Public Information Centre (PIC) will be for the community to learn about and give comment on several technical studies that have been completed including Archeological and Cultural Heritage Assessment, Population and Wastewater Flow Projection, Existing Land Condition and Capacity Evaluation, Treatment Technology Alternative Evaluation, and a Preliminary Cost Analysis.

The Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion is part of the Municipality’s Capital projects. To learn more about this project and the scheduled PIC, please visit www.meaford.ca/WWTPExpansion. For information on other 2023 Capital Projects, please visit www.meaford.ca/CapitalProjects.
