Rehabilitation work on Bridge 037, located on Sykes Street North over Pete’s Creek (between Susan Street and Cook Street), will begin in the coming days.
The rehabilitation of the bridge will include:
- Concrete repairs to the structure to ensure continued operation in future years;
- Replacement of the barrier system on the structure to improve safety for vehicles and cyclists; and
- Replacement of failed retaining structures.
Two lanes of traffic will be maintained; however, occasional lane reductions or closures may be necessary for short periods during some construction activities. Delays are to be expected and drivers are asked to be patient and careful when driving through construction zones and areas where people are working on or near the road.
Sidewalk access on the west side of Sykes Street North may also be periodically limited due to construction activities. Please take note of signed sidewalk closures in the area. Sidewalks on Cook Street, William Street, Thompson Street, and Susan Street can be used as alternative travel pathways. A Notice of Construction and an Accessible Service Disruption Notice is available at www.meaford.ca/Bridge37.
