National AccessAbility Week: The Meaford Public Library

It’s Day 2 of National AccessAbility Week, and today we are shining the spotlight on the Meaford Public Library.

The Library has something for everyone. Visitors to the Library will find five fully accessible universal washrooms, a washroom with an adult change table, fully accessible book shelving throughout the library, wayfinding signage, wheelchair friendly access throughout the entire space, and more! Other features include large print books, DAISY readers, and an accessible computer. Visit www.meaford.ca/library for more information.

Coming up this week at the Library is a public input session for the Municipality’s Multi-Year Accessibility Plan. This important Plan shows the steps the Municipality is taking to remove barriers for people with disabilities. Each year the Municipality publishes a status report to monitor progress toward the goals set out in the plan, and every four years the Municipality refreshes the Plan completely. The Plan is currently under review and new aims are being set out for the next four years.

Staff will be at the Meaford Public Library Parkette between 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on June 1. Drop in to share your ideas to enhance accessibility across the Municipality. If it rains, you can find them in the Friends of Meaford Library Room.

This event is hosted by the Municipality of Meaford Accessibility Advisory Committee and Meaford Public Library.
