Steve Leary, new head coach of the Georgian Bay Coyote Track Club, continues to train with a small number of athletes. They have just finished a two-week break following a longer than usual fall training season.
With little desire to travel to the few meets held in Toronto, the club has only had time trials and chasing personal bests to push the athletes, and that has been challenging for some. Consequently, the athletes were all thrilled at the idea of donning Santa suits and dashing their hearts out for a festive 5K.
365 Sports, a Meaford-run event and marketing company, has taken their annual HO HO Holiday 5K Run online this year and the young Coyotes are lacing up to have some fun and to support a worthy cause, all without having to leave their home town.
On Saturday, December 19, participants will be running around town to spread smiles and to raise money for a worthy cause. 365 Sports partners with the Make-A-Wish foundation, a foundation that helps kids fighting critical illnesses to have renewed hope and comfort during their trials by making one of their wishes come true. COVID-19 has made it harder for everyone to see their wishes materialize, but you can make a difference. If you would like to help the 420 kids who are on the waiting list, please visit the following link and make a donation under the Georgian Bay Coyote Santa’s team:

If you happen to see any of their runners out doing their 5K, please be sure to cheer them on. We could all use a little cheer these days.
