Editor,
For over 20 years I have been a school crossing guard. Mostly the last few years just relieving when some crossing people need a day off.
Last November 2014 I stopped a car at the corner of Sykes and Collingwood streets. The man pulled over to the curb and asked me why I was stopping traffic and when I told him it was a school crossing he said it was not, as there were no crossing signs or warning signs saying School Crossing ahead.
I went to Mr. Molloy the fire chief who is in charge of school crossing guards and he said he would look into it. After no action I went to the mayor and told the deputy mayor about it and still no action.
Last year two crossing guards got clipped on the arm by cars that did not stop. Does some person have to get killed before there are signs up saying it is a school crossing?
