Grey Bruce OPP Charge Driver With Several Offences

On May 29, at 8:08 a.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) initiated a traffic stop on a brown minivan on Trowbridge Street in Meaford.

The vehicle had an out of province licence plate and the driver did not have any documentation for the vehicle. Further investigation revealed that the driver was a suspended driver, the attached plates did not belong on the vehicle and the driver did not have any insurance, nor was there any insurance on the vehicle.

The Grey Bruce OPP have charged a 45 year old from Meaford with the following offences:

  • 3 counts of driving while under suspension, section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act

  • Use plate not authorized for vehicle, section 12(1)(d) of the Highway Traffic Act

  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance, section 2(1)(a) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act

The involved vehicle was towed from the scene and will be impounded for 45 days.

This driver was issued several provincial summons to attend court.
