OSNGUPL on Plans To Resume Library Services

Staff

As per the Government of Ontarios May 14 detailed list of Stage 1 openings, public library services may resume for delivery and pickup as early as May 19.

While Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library (OSNGUPL) said that they appreciate that library services are valued by the community, OSNGUPL is delaying an immediate launch of such services until processes and measures have been fully developed to ensure our staff and customers’ health and safety during these uncertain times.

While work on these processes and procurement of necessary supplies has begun, we are not able to immediately open our doors. We are working on plans for exactly how, where, and when these services will be rolled out,” said Tim Nicholls Harrison, OSNGUPL CEO and Chief Librarian.

Richard Thomas, OSNGUPL Board Chair, said, “The Library will continue to keep everyone informed as decisions are made and plans confirmed. We want to ensure that our staff and the public can safely navigate what is often one of the busiest public buildings in the region.”

With the building closed, library services have continued. We have assisted the public by providing online reference support when requested, providing tech support for those needing it, updating or registering for library cards, and promoting our online resources. We have used Zoom and Facebook to offer programming, including virtual story times, to the community.

Above all, the Library is here for you! For any questions or concerns, staff are responding to voicemails, emails, and Facebook text messages from Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Please call the OSNGUPL main line at 519-376-6623 and leave a voicemail, or email info@owensound.library.on.ca.
