Changes to Waste Services Due to COVID-19

While curbside collection for garbage, recycling and organics is continuing as usual, the COVID-19 pandemic has led to the following changes in drop-off waste services:

 

  • The Household Hazardous Waste drop-off scheduled for April 18, 2020 at 1900 20th Street East, Owen Sound has been cancelled.

  • Electronic waste drop-off scheduled for the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month at 87 Stewart Street has been cancelled until April 11th.

The Miller Waste Transfer Station at 2085 20th Ave. East, Owen Sound is continuing to operate as usual. Miller Waste has implemented increased protection and sanitation for their staff.

Staff are continuing to restock garbage bag tags at the usual retail outlets, which include:

  • Rockford Service Centre

  • Owen Sound Food Basics

  • Annan Post Office

  • Meaford Ultramar

  • Bill’s Valu Mart

  • Circle K

  • Foodland Thornbury

  • Meaford Rexall

  • Zet Variety

  • IDA Pharmacy Meaford

  • Home Hardware (Both Locations – Rice’s and Knights)

  • Meaford Convenience Plus

  • Meaford Convenience and Pet Stop

  • Meaford Esso

As the situation progresses, service levels may change,” said the municipality. “We recommend that all residents use the Meaford Waste App to get the most up-to-date information on any disruptions in services.”

The app can be installed through the app store on Apple and Android devices, or you can sign up for notifications by email, text message, or phone call by visiting www.meaford.ca/waste.
