Police Follow Footprints in Snow to Solve Break-inOn December 21, 2019 at 1:34 a.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a burglary alarm at the Stone Tree Golf and Country Club at Highway 6 & 10, south of Owen Sound.

Grey Bruce OPP attended and found that an attempt had been made to enter the building and that other outbuildings had been entered. Officers observed footwear impressions in the snow and followed them to a residence in the area. Officers arrested two persons at the residence.

A 38 year old man from Owen Sound has been charged with the following offences,

  • Break, Enter dwelling house – commit indictable offence, section 348(1)(b) Criminal Code of Canada (CC)

  • Mischief Under $ 5,000, section 430(4) CC

  • Theft Under $5000, section 334(b) CC

  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000, section 354(1)(a) CC

  • Possession Break In Instruments, section 351(1) CC

  • Trespassing at Night, section 177 CC

  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order, section 733.1(1) CC

A 21 year old, woman from Meaford has been charged with the following offences,

  • Break, Enter dwelling house – commit indictable offence, section 348(1)(b) CC

  • Mischief Under $ 5,000, section 430(4) CC

  • Theft Under $5000, section 334(b) CC

  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000, section 354(1)(a) CC

  • Possession Break In Instruments, section 351(1) CC

  • Trespassing at Night, section 177 CC

Both accused were remanded into custody following bail hearings in Ontario Court of Justice on December 21, 2019.
