A Flower a Month For Care Home Residents

Each and every one of the 142 residents of the Meaford Long Term Care Centre and Errinrung Nursing and Retirement Home in Thornbury can expect a fresh cut flower delivered to them once a month for the coming year, thanks to the generous response from individuals in the area to a suggestion posted on social media by Simply Unique Flowers and Gifts owner Nancy Ellis.

Donors have pledged $24 to cover the cost of a fresh cut flower in a vase delivered to the care centre residents once a month. “The response has been amazing,” Nancy said. “We have enough pledges to cover a flower a month for Meaford and Thornbury care home residents, and we are still getting responses.

The first delivery will be mid-December. The donors’ names will be made available to the care home staff. Any extra money will be donated to the homes to buy presents for residents who do not otherwise receive Christmas presents.”
