Thoughts on PM’s Blackface Issue

Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor,

I am responding to Roberta Docherty’s Letter to the Editor published 27 September, 2019, concerning “Trudeau Brown-Face Issue”.

I have absolutely no idea if Ms. Docherty is just completely uninformed or is a die-hard Liberal supporter trying to misinform your readership and deflect criticisms towards Justin Trudeau.

Either way, it doesn’t wash with me or anyone else who stays well informed.

I’m 66, and when I was a kid (maybe 1961), my Mum dressed me up as Aladdin for Halloween and my Dad had made me a wooden “Arabian Sword” to brandish! I was “pumped” until I looked at my pathetic pale face in the mirror after Mrs. Dressup had finished her imaginative task. I asked her if she could darken my face with some of her makeup as I wanted to “look real”. My Mum and Dad were angered and astonished that I would ask that of them. They explained that my idea was very rude and hurtful to “others” and I was grounded for the remainder of the night. “Trick or Treating” was cancelled and I got a long lecture instead. I was made to understand the errors in my thought processes. I’m now embarrassed that I even asked this of them but you live and learn…

Now, FORTY YEARS after my thoughtless escapade there was a “Theme party of the Arabian Nights” – this was a private fundraising event in Vancouver for 500 guests, by invitation only. The invitations clearly stated that it was a “Black Tie Only” dress code. The Arabian Nights theme was limited to the event venue and staff only.

499 invitees arrived in “Black Tie” attire and “Sock Boy” made his grand entrance sporting BLACK FACE ATTIRE. Many of the guests there were horrified and angered but he was most unapologetic because (in his own little mind) he was “The Star of the Show!” and the rules didn’t apply to HIM.

His Dad was The FATHER of MULTICULTURALISM in Canada but, apparently, Sock Boy was never told by his parents that kind of behaviour was absolutely taboo. That’s either a gross lack of good parenting and upbringing or just a bare-faced lie. You decide which.

That was the second of three “black-face events” uncovered thus far and “there may be more to come” according to the KING of Multiculturalism and political correctness.

I am absolutely disgusted as are most of Peoplekind! (World criticism of him has been scathing). Actions speak louder than words and I’m embarrassed to say that Canada’s Prime Minister has proven himself to be a Racist. It goes without saying that I’m currently not proud to call myself Canadian.
