Friends Transfer Funds For Library Building

Staff

Library supporters recently celebrated as the Friends of the Meaford Library presented two cheques to the municipality for the new library building.

The first cheque was for the sum of $83,350, and represents the Friends of the Meaford Library’s commitment to the new facility. It comes from funds raised at both the Net Shed and the Friends’ Sunday night concerts. The second cheque was for $175,000, representing donations to the new library made by individuals and families as well as businesses in the Meaford area.

Amounting to $258,350, these two cheques are part of the more than $500,000 fundraised to date for the new accessible Library building.

Chair of the Friends of the Meaford Public Library Peter Bantock noted at the event, “This is a very exciting day. We look forward to transferring more funds as we continue towards the Friends fundraising target of $750,000. Thank you to all for your continued support.”

Construction on the new accessible Meaford Public Library building began on August 12, 2019.
