Screening of ‘The Public’ is Next Library Fundraiser

Staff

Come out and support the new Meaford Public Library at a unique fundraising event – a movie set in a public library.

The Public is a feature film in which an act of civil disobedience turns into a standoff with police when homeless people in Cincinnati take over the public library to seek shelter from the bitter cold. Directed by and starring Emilio Estevez, as well as Alec Baldwin and Christian Slater, The Public explores many of the topics facing public libraries today. It is not to be missed!

This screening of The Public takes places on Sunday, August 11 at 2 pm in the Opera House at Meaford Hall. Get your ticket in advance at the Meaford Public Library. The recommended donation for each ticket is $20.

Following the screening, Ross Kentner will interview a special guest and then the audience is invited to the Galleries for complimentary appetizers.

This event is organized by the new Meaford Public Library Fundraising Committee and generously sponsored by the Meaford Culture Foundation.
