Celebrate Library Week at the Meaford Public Library

nationl library week 2018 270 Get ready for it! Each October during Ontario Public Library Week, the staff at the Meaford Public Library take the opportunity to celebrate all things in the library world. And that means a ton of fun for customers of all ages.

From Monday, October 14 to Saturday, October 20, 2018, the library will host activities and events to acknowledge the wonderful, powerful, and important roles that public libraries play in our lives.

Every day of the week, we will have coffee and cookies, balloons and popcorn. There will be a Food for Fines drive – bring in a donation for the Golden Town Outreach Food Bank and receive $1 off your fine. And we will encourage customers to let us know “Why I Love My Library.”

In addition, here are some of the lively events that the Meaford Public Library has planned:

Take a Guided Library Tour of our existing building and review plans for our future, accessible building on Sykes Street. Various times during the week.
Try your hand at Book Folding and create a beautiful craft. Monday at 2 pm
Experience technology! Try out a new device or software from the library’s collection. Tuesday at 2 pm
Say Thank You to the Friends of the Meaford Library for all the hard work they do for the Library. Tuesday at 6:30 pm
Attend the Book Lovers Open House and hear suggestions from staff about many different genres. Friday at 1 pm
Compete in the Rotary Club of Meaford Trivia Night. Create your own team or join an existing team. Proceeds are matched by the Rotary Club up to $5,000 for the new Meaford Public Library building. Friday at 6:30 at the Meaford and St. Vincent Community Centre.
Check out the Read-a-thon winners in the Junior Library. Saturday at 11 am.
And finally, the book battle we all love – Georgian Bay Reads! Saturday at 7 pm at Meaford Hall. Tickets for this event are free but limited. Pick yours up today.
