Amazing Reads Canada Back at the Meaford Public Library

Staff

AmazingReads2018 270Summer is travel time, so collect your passport at the Library and head across Canada with Meaford Public Library’s Amazing Reads Canada challenge.

Your passport contains ten reading challenges. Each province and territory of Canada has a specific book you must read or there is an author challenge known as a Block to tackle. When you come to a Block, you must read an author from that province or territory. For example, if Ontario is a Block, you can choose from writers like Linwood Barclay, Ian Hamilton, Michael Ondaatje, or Margaret Atwood. And library staff have tons of suggestions if you are interested.

The books can be read in any order, however to complete the Amazing Reads Canada challenge, all books must be read by September 1. When you have finished reading a book, bring your passport to the front desk for an official Meaford Public Library stamp and add a sticker to the map of Canada on display in the library to show others where you have travelled.

When you’ve completed your journey across Canada, the library will collect the cover of your passport and you will have a chance to win one of three fabulous prizes. The draw will take place on Tuesday, September 4.

The books selected for the Amazing Reads Canada challenge are the 2018 Forest of Reading Evergreen nominees, chosen by librarians from across Ontario. These books are for adults of any age and are comprised of Canadian fiction and non-fiction. Reading at least one of the nominated titles allows participants to vote in September for their favourite book. The winning book will be announced during Ontario Public Library Week in October.
