Soggy Start to the Season For the Meaford Ladies 18 Hole Golf ClubAfter a wet start to the season, the Meaford Ladies 18 Hole Golf Club could finally play a complete game without the rain.

On July 6, we found our way for the first time around the newly designed course, also playing a game of Bingo Bango Bongo, a fun game that rewards first player on the green, player closest to the hole and first player in the hole,” said the club.

Convenors Candy Yeandle and Cathy Seidle presented the prizes to the winners: Sue MacDougald, Suzie Kellett, Bev Reed, Barb Loranger, and Tracey McNally. Sue MacDougald and Tracey McNally each captured an elusive birdie.

Last month, on June 15, 15 ladies gathered to play a Hidden Hole game with convenors Anne Thompson and Barb Loranger but after 9 holes we had had enough of the rain and came in,” noted the club.

June 22 was also a washout, however the ladies were able to play a ‘coloured ball’ game with Carole Frey and Sue MacDougald convening. “It was a wet day but Carole Frey’s team brought in their ball,” said the club.

June 29 found the group were all decked out in their red and white in celebration of Canada’s birthday, however the event was limited to a celebratory lunch only, as again the game had to be cancelled due to the wet weather. A nice social time was enjoyed by the 18 ladies assembled at the Canada Day-themed club house. Marg Tirpkoff and Donna Atkinson hosted the gathering, with Canada 150 bags for all and draw prizes awarded to Mary Bow, Marge Allin, and Carole Frey.

We all raised a glass to toast the 150 mark of the country we are so proud to be a part of. We completed our festivities with a piece of the decorated ‘Canada’ cake provided by Mary Alderdice of the Meaford Golf and Country Club,” said the club.

July 13 will find eight of the ladies golfing at Cranberry Golf Club with the Chix with Stix group, and they are looking forward to their annual Breast Cancer event on July 20 with invited guests.
