Lawn Bowling Season Returns

Staff

The Meaford Lawn Bowling Club, located by the banks of the Big Head River (behind Alex’s Gas Bar), is ready to start the new season on May 30.

We meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays at this time (1:30 p.m.) until July when we switch to our evening hours,” said the club.

Clinics for new bowlers, or those who felt their skills may be a little rusty, were held May 30, May 31 and June 1 at 7 p.m.

The club is hoping to attract some new bowlers this year, noting that it is an affordable activity.

The 2017 bowling fees are $156, which includes National and Provincial fees of $31. If you choose to bowl on a casual basis, the cost is the one payment of National and Provincial fees plus $8 per day. Bowls are available to rent,” informed the club.

In addition to being affordable, lawn bowling is also a social activity.

Unlike regular alley bowling, with lawn bowling you are not committed to a team. Teams are made up each day based on who shows up. It is a great way of meeting people and enjoying a few laughs,” said the club.
