Letter to the Editor
Editor,
I was disheartened to read the letter to the Editor from the local Legion’s president (published May 19) regarding the Scarecrow Invasion’s decision to showcase the Support our Troops t-shirts this year. A decision might I add that was made in conjunction with the Meaford Military Family Resource Centre (MFRC).
The MFRC made the decision to donate the t-shirts in recognition of the support for the CAF Members and the families of the 4th Canadian Division Training Centre that the town of Meaford shows. And as Head Scarecrow Marilyn Morris said, “Who better to be represented this year as we proudly celebrate Canada’s 150th than our Canadian military through 4th Canadian Division Meaford… they are true Canadian and Meaford heroes.”
I’m dumbfounded that they (the Legion) have a problem with this. Sounds like some very good thought was put into this decision. I would love to hear any positive suggestions that the president and Legion members had to do the same or was it just a bashing session at the meeting.
Let’s stop being so judgmental and work together try to support our troops and everyone in the community!
