For many Christmas day is filled with family and friends along with gifts, treats, and a holiday feast, but not everyone has family close by to share the special day with, or the ability to prepare a festive meal – that’s where some local volunteers step in.
For the seventh straight year Meaford’s Stan’s Taxi is sponsoring a Christmas dinner delivery, free to anyone who asks. In previous years, the delivery of the hot Christmas dinner has been enjoyed by the elderly, and those living alone or who are unable to cook a festive meal.
Barbara Arnelien who spearheads the initiative told The Independent that while she prepares the meals, pies for dessert are donated by Grandma Lambes, and volunteers help deliver the meals on the afternoon of Christmas day.
Roughly 50 people each year have benefited from the initiative.
Delivery of the Christmas meals takes place between 2 – 4 pm on December 25. If you would like to have a meal delivered to your home, contact 519-538-4726 before December 20 to be added to the delivery list.
