Community Cookbook Gives Back

ComeToOurTable270Come To Our Table – The South Georgian Bay Community Cookbook celebrates the unique food culture of south Georgian Bay with recipes, art, stories and profiles featuring the very best of local ingredients.

Thanks to the overwhelming support and generosity of the community, the book is now printed and available for sale at various locations throughout the region.

As part of the fundraising campaign, people were encouraged to purchase one book, plus one for donation back into the community. To date, there are 19 cookbooks to be donated to local schools and initiatives. The books will be distributed throughout the Southern Georgian Bay region including to the following locations:

  • Beaver Valley Community School, Clarksburg

  • Golden Town Outreach, Meaford

  • My Friend’s House, Collingwood

  • Hospitality & Tourism class at C.C.I, Collingwood

  • Nottawasaga Creemore Public School, Creemore

  • Public libraries in Creemore, Wasaga Beach, Collingwood, The Blue Mountains, Meaford, and Owen Sound

In addition, 10 percent of the sale of each book is set aside into a fund for local initiatives. To date, there is $4,000 set aside to help grow or create local programming, specifically with youth and local food in mind.
