Thousands of onlookers lined Sykes Street on Friday, September 30 to take in the 20th anniversary edition of Meaford’s Scarecrow Invasion parade, and the family festival that followed at the harbour.
Before the traditional parade, the OPP Golden Helmets returned to the festival for their third appearance in the past six years. Their precision manoeuvres on their Harley Davidson motorcycles impressed the crowd for nearly an hour before the parade began.
As has become the tradition for the festival, as the final float in the parade passed by, the large crowd of onlookers followed the end of the parade to the Rotary Harbour Pavilion where games, food, and fun were in abundance.
Also at the harbour, the winners of the apple pie baking contest as well as the business decorating winners were announced as follows:
