On September 10, at approximately 12:10 a.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a noise complaint on Old Highway 26 in the Municipality of Meaford.
When police arrived they found two males and two females standing next to a cooler at the end of a residential driveway. They indicated they were waiting for a taxi cab. Police issued the parties with a warning as to being intoxicated in a public place.
When the taxi arrived, all but one male departed the scene. The lone suspect was arrested after he proceeded to drink from a beer can, look over at police, and then toss the can onto the roadway despite the earlier warning from police.
While in the police cruiser, the suspect was belligerent and had caused damage to the interior of the cruiser.
The 28 year-old Meaford man was charged with mischief under $5,000 and resisting arrest. He was also issued Part III Summons for public intoxication and littering.
He is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on October 13.
