Season Opener for Coyotes in Owen Sound

The Owen Sound Bayshore Road Race was held on Sunday, August 28, beginning at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Area under overcast skies and light rain.

The race was a fundraiser for the Regional Hospital and included 21km, 10km and 5km events plus a Kid’s 1km race. Some members of the Meaford Coyotes Track Club were in attendance, taking part in the 5km and 1km events.

hooper2016 270Head Coach Kevin Hooper placed third overall, and first in the Male 50-59 age group for the 5km race, crossing the line in a season best time of 19:08. Olivia Karn, a 13 year old from Coldwater, was the top female finisher and placed 14th overall in the 5km trek. She stopped the clock with a personal best time of 20:45. Cole Gillis, a 7 year old from Thornbury, was our top runner in the Kid’s 1km Race. He placed 7th overall with a personal best time of 4:27.

The Coyotes ‘officially’ begin their cross country season on Saturday, September 17, with our Grade 9 and under members heading to Pickering for the Durham Dragons MTA Cross Country Race. On Saturday, October 1, the Team hosts their 6th annual Coyote Cross Country Race for over 300 school kids at the GBSS Athletic Field in Meaford.
