Meaford Motorcyclist Dies After Accident on Hwy 26

opp logo270A motorcycle rider involved in a collision on Highway 26 in Meaford on September 2, has succumbed to his injuries.  The deceased has been identified as 55-year old Allan Bradley Doherty of the Municipality of Meaford.

On September 2, 2016 at approximately 8:41 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a serious collision between a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle on Highway 26 at the 7th Line in the Municipality of Meaford.

The initial investigation revealed that the motorcycle was travelling eastbound on Highway 26 when the passenger vehicle, which was westbound, collided with the motorcycle as it attempted to make a left turn (south) onto the 7th Line.

The rider of the motorcycle was transported to hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries.

The driver of the passenger vehicle was not injured.

The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigative Unit (TTCI) assisted with the investigation which is in its early stages.

Grey County EMS and the Meaford Fire Department assisted at the scene.

Charges are pending against the driver of the 2012 Dodge Charger vehicle involved in the collision; a 57-year old Windsor man.
