OPP Execute Drug Warrant at Meaford Property

opp logo270On July 26, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau – Drug Enforcement Unit, with the assistance of Grey County OPP, West Region Emergency Response Team, and West Region Canine Unit, executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a property on Concession A in the Municipality of Meaford.

As a result of the execution of the search warrant, police seized marijuana, methamphetamine, and psilocybin for the purpose of trafficking. The estimated, combined value of the seized controlled substances was $1,720.

Police also seized offence-related property consisting of cell phones, digital scales, packaging materials, a debt list, and cash.

During the execution of the search warrant, police identified stolen property consisting of a 35-foot 5th wheel camping trailer (stolen from Barrie in December 2015), as well as a Honda motorcycle and a space heater. The combined estimated value of the recovered stolen property is $72,520.

A 30 year old man of no fixed address was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of methamphetamine for purposes of trafficking
  • Possession of psilocybin for the purposes of trafficking
  • Possession of cannabis marijuana for the purposes of trafficking
  • Production of cannabis marijuana
  • Possession of cannabis resin
  • Possession of ammunition while prohibited
  • Possession of stolen property under $5,000
  • Possession of stolen property over $5,000

The accused, who was also wanted by West Grey Police Service and OPP Highway Safety Division, was held for a bail hearing on July 27 in Owen Sound.

He remains in custody. A video bail is scheduled for August 9.
