Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Bill Walker used a public meeting held this week on inter-community busing as an opportunity to further drive the message of his constituency’s need for better transportation options.

Three years have passed since MPP Walker introduced a motion at Queen’s Park to call on the Liberal government to study transportation needs in rural and Northern Ontario. Even though his motion received unanimous consent and passed, Walker says that the government has let the motion sit dormant.

With the very limited and few bus options we have, I encourage my constituents to join me and give input in how we need the government to step up and help us connect communities through better transportation options in Bruce and Grey,” says MPP Walker.

We often hear how a lack of transportation negatively impacts our communities, how building transportation is key to lifting people out of poverty and keeping our seniors active and healthy,” he says. “I believe the government should take a more active role in supporting our communities’ transit needs.”

The Ministry of Transportation held the public information session at the Bayshore Community Centre Owen Sound on Tuesday, July 12.
