On Sunday June 5, the Meaford Skating Club held its annual awards banquet at the Meaford Golf Course. A delicious meal prepared by Mary Alderdice and her team was enjoyed by all.
This year the club had a very successful season passing 54 tests.
Awards were given out as follows:
Shooting Star of the Year: Madison Gibbons
Junior of the Year: Bonnie Kwon-Bentley
Intermediate of the Year: Tayah Davies
Senior of the Year: Emma Fulford
These awards were given based on most tests passed over the course of the season.
Program Assistant of the Year: Emma Wright
President’s Choice Award: Emma Cornelisse (given for best competition results this year and for being a great ambassador on and off the ice)
Coach’s Recognition Award: Hannah Knight (given for best all around skater in academics and school sports and clubs)
Adam’s Achievement Awards: Kirstin Knight (gold interpretive), Emma Fulford & Teagan Davies (gold skils) (awarded for fulfilling gold test standards)
Volunteer of the Year: Anne Kwon-Bentley and Tammy Dobie
“Thanks to Jen Wright, Debbie Shaw and coaches Vanessa Hensel, Karen Verbrugge and Mary Hardie for organizing the event. Hats off to a great season and club. See you at the rink in October,” said club organizers.
