GBHU Board of Health Names New Medical Officer of Health

DrChristineKennedy270The Board of Health for the Grey Bruce Health Unit is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Christine Kennedy as Medical Officer of Health. She will assume her new role with the Grey Bruce Health Unit on July 1.

Dr. Kennedy came to the Grey Bruce Health Unit as Associate Medical Officer of Health in September 2014. Her work as a public health physician in Grey Bruce has centered on priority populations, childhood and family health, as well as a number of special projects. She continues to do research in applied public health economics and holds adjunct academic positions in both medical sciences and clinical sciences with Northern Ontario School of Medicine.

Dr. Kennedy has extensive experience in the practice of public health including as a researcher, teacher, senior public health economist and consultant, Medical Officer of Health, and as a Regional Community Medicine Specialist for First Nations and Inuit Health Branch (FNIHB) – Health Canada in both Alberta Region and Ontario Region.

She received her Medical Degree from the University of Calgary, completing postgraduate training in both Family Medicine and Community Medicine at Queen’s University, Kingston. Dr. Kennedy is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada in Public Health and Preventive Medicine.
