Gotta Keep Reading Returns May 17

Staff

The Meaford Public Library and GBSS Born to Read have partnered again this year to offer the second annual Gotta Keep Reading free family literacy event on Tuesday, May 17 from 5 to 7 pm at Meaford Hall.

Drop by from 5 to 6 pm to investigate and explore the various literacy-based displays and activities, and enter to win one of the many prizes of book bundles. Thanks to the generosity of local sponsors, there are a number of prizes to be won. Book prizes are all newly purchased through sponsor donations and a ballot will be distributed as individuals enter for the event. Youth simply fill out their name and drop their ballot into the bag that corresponds to the prize.

Then at 6:15 pm, Canadian author and illustrator Ruth Ohi will give a presentation. Ruth Ohi has illustrated over 59 books (18 of which she wrote). Her books have been shortlisted for awards such as the Marilyn Baillie Picture Book, Shining Willow, and Blue Spruce. Ohi’s latest book is Scribble.

Everyone is welcome to attend this fun-filled community event to promote literacy and a love of reading. Entrance is free of charge and no ticket is required to attend this event.
