On March 21, at approximately 6:07 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a theft report involving a sofa.
The investigation revealed that one of two full-sized sofas was stolen from the back of an open, pull-behind utility trailer by unknown person(s) while it was parked at the Meaford Factory Outlet parking lot located on Cook Street in the Municipality of Meaford.
The victim had purchased two matching sofas (“#3000 Sofa by Aman, Brownie Colour”) which were loaded onto the utility trailer. The victim then returned inside the store to continue shopping. While driving back to his residence in Barrie, he noticed one of the sofas was missing from the trailer and immediately back-tracked to Meaford where the theft was reported to police. The purchase price of the sofa was $626.50 plus tax.
