On Sunday, January 10, at approximately 1:34 a.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an alarm call at The Bargain Shop located on Highway 26 in the Municipality of Meaford.
Within minutes police arrived at the scene and found the glass of the main entrance door smashed. The interior door of the business was secure and, as a result, no entry was gained. Police believe the audible alarm likely thwarted the potential break-in.
Grey County OPP, with the assistance of the OPP Canine Unit and OPP Emergency Response Unit searched the area but were unable to locate the person(s) responsible.
The investigation continues. Anyone with information which may assist is asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
The OPP urge residents to report any suspicious persons and or vehicles to police.
