Meaford Public Library’s Cindy LeDrew won the 7th annual Georgian Bay Reads event by successfully defending The Virgin Cure by Ami McKay.
This annual battle of the books was held on October 24 at Station on the Green in Creemore, as part of a partnership between Clearview, Collingwood, Meaford, Springwater, and Wasaga Beach public libraries. Each library chooses a defender and a Canadian book in hopes of winning the coveted Georgian Bay Reads trophy and the People’s Choice Award.
This year, the Meaford Public Library won both awards!
Cindy LeDrew was up against: Ian Adams, representing the Wasaga Beach Public Library, who defended Terry Fallis’s No Relation; Collingwood Public Library’s defender Susie Saunderson selected Still Life by Louise Penny; Clearview Public Library’s Beth Crawley defended Unless by Carol Shields; and, new to the event, Springwater Public Library had Linda Collins defending Emancipation Day by Wayne Grady.
“The Meaford Public Library would like to thank all the sponsors of the Georgian Bay Reads event as well as everyone who came out and supported Cindy and our library,” said the Library.
Because of the victory, Meaford will be hosting next year’s Georgian Bay Reads on Saturday, October 22, 2016.
