Guitar Great Rik Emmett to Perform in Meaford

Staff

Guitar virtuoso and rock legend Rik Emmet, formerly of rock band Triumph, will be performing at Meaford Hall on Friday, November 13.

Emmett has his fair share of gold and platinum hanging on the wall after surviving four decades in the music business. Perhaps best known for his years as the lead member of legendary Canadian rock band Triumph, writing and performing songs like ‘Lay It On The Line’, ‘Magic Power’, and ‘Hold On’, Emmett’s highlights of an ever-evolving career range from Best Guitarist at the ’81 Junos to Best Smooth Jazz Guitarist in 2005, along with induction into the Canadian Rock Hall of Fame in 1993, the Music Industry Hall of Fame in 2007, and the Junos Hall of Fame in 2008. The multi-dimensional singer/songwriter at the heart of it consistently displays the dignity and maturity of his continuing commitment to great music.

In addition to his out-of-this-world guitar playing, audiences marvel at the versatility of the tenor (and his storytelling and sense of humour on stage) as he continues his prolific run of solo indie CDs, from classical to jazz to acoustic pop and folk vocal stylings through to the hard rock that made his reputation in the first place. While the heritage classic rock songs roll right along in heavy rotation on rock radio and satellite radio, and with movie placements (‘Lay It On The Line’, for example, was in an Adam Sandler movie), his wide catalogue of songs also garners radio airplay on easy-listening, smooth jazz, and CBC formats.
