The latest results released by the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) from the 2014 – 2015 Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) reveal an increase in the success rate for students in Bluewater District School Board.
The just released success rate of 77 percent signifies a 4 percent increase from the previous year’s score for Bluewater District School Board grade 10 students who participated in the test. The latest provincial average is a success rate of 82 percent.
The most notable improvement in the latest results is a 10 percent jump from the previous year in the success rate for Bluewater District School Board students with learning disabilities.
“We are very pleased with Bluewater’s progress in the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test. The latest increase has substantially closed the gap between our board and the province as we are now 5 percent closer to the provincial average than we were in 2014. This is a remarkable accomplishment which can be attributed to the tremendous hard work and ongoing focus on literacy by our dedicated educators and administrators,” says Superintendent of Education Lori Wilder.
