Municipal Vehicle Stolen, Recovered on Resident’s Property

On Sunday, August 23, Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call from a resident reporting that a pick-up truck belonging to the Municipality of Meaford appeared to have been abandoned on his property on Pearson Street in Meaford.  The investigation revealed that the truck, a red 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, bearing the Municipality of Meaford crests on the doors and containing a 200 gallon water tank in the box of the truck, had been reported stolen to Grey County OPP earlier in the day.

Sometime between 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 22 and 5:45 a.m. on Sunday, August 23, unknown person(s) forcibly entered the garage at the Municipality of Meaford Works Department located on Collingwood Street and removed the truck.

Police located a pair of JVC stereo speakers inside the truck which did not belong to the Municipality.

The investigation continues.  Anyone with information which may assist is asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
