Small Aircraft Makes Emergency Landing en Route to Billy Bishop Airport

On Sunday, August 16, 2015 at approximately 1:44 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a downed air plane on the East Back Line in the Municipality of Grey Highlands.

The pilot of the small air plane, a “Murphy Rebel”, made an emergency landing on a private airstrip located on the East Back Line due to a mechanical failure.  The 61 year old pilot and a 67 year old passenger walked away from the plane, which had dug into the ground causing damage to the nose.  There were no injuries reported.

The two men left Brampton and were on route to the Billy Bishop Airport when the mishap occurred.

Grey County Emergency Services (EMS) and the Grey Highlands Fire Department assisted at the scene.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada was notified of the incident.
