Medical Clinic Nearing Completion

med clinic nearing comp

The Don Bumstead & Family Medical Centre has announced that construction of the new building is on schedule and on budget, and tenants are booking.

To date concrete footings and foundation walls have been installed, and structural steel erected. Both passed inspection by professional engineers. The roof was built and H&V units put in place. Exterior cladding and masonry has been completed leaving only some stucco trim to be added at the roof line. On the interior, stud walls have been erected and plumbing, electrical, and H&V roughed in. Exterior and interior insulation is in place. All drywall is complete. Over the next month, painting followed by interior finishes will be the focus.

With respect to the civil works, buried potable water, sanitary and storm sewers have been installed. Over the next month the site will be brought up to proper grade followed by concrete curbing and sidewalks, then paving of the access road and parking lot.

In mid-August landscaping will be done at the front of the building and the rear of the lot.

The plan is to have construction complete in late August with doors open for business on September 2nd.

The medical centre has already recruited one new doctor, Dr. Issa Benissa from Fogo Island, Newfoundland, and is currently working on recruiting one more family practitioner to join the team as soon as possible. Georgian Bay Physiotherapy will take occupancy September 1.

The centre is still accepting donations. If interested, please contact any of our Board members or Brian Adamson at 519 538 1198 for more information. Also, Doctors 4 Meaford raffle tickets are now available at Stuff to Read, Scotiabank, the Chamber of Commerce, Royal LePage on Sykes St., and RBA Financial. Check out the RBA window display with over 20 prizes in downtown Meaford.
