On Friday, June 27, Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to investigate after someone had sprayed graffiti on a lattice fence at the Hill Top Motel located on Sykes Street South in Meaford.

Police received another mischief report on Saturday, June 28, 2014 after someone had sprayed graffiti on the Blue Dolphin Pool building.

Graffiti has a negative impact on the community. In some cases, if graffiti is ignored, it can leave the impression that no one cares; lead to increased graffiti and crime; prevent prosperity and reduce property values; decrease residents’ feelings of safety,” said the OPP.

Those responsible may be charged with the criminal offence of mischief, which is the wilful damage or destruction of property and can be punishable for up to a 10 year prison sentence.
