The TD Summer Reading Program launches on Saturday, June 27 from 10 am to 3 pm. Treats will be served and there will be a balloon drop at 11 am.

Children and teens can enter weekly draws to win great prizes by reading books, magazines, graphic novels, and more. Drop by on or after June 27 to receive your free reading package. Registration will continue all summer long—it’s never too late to join.

New this summer, the library is offering a Tech Craze Camp. Tuesday to Friday beginning July 7, this camp will encourage children to explore different kinds of technology such as: Minecraft; web design; digital photography; and much more. Each day offers something new! The program runs Tuesday to Friday from 10 am to 12 pm at a cost of just $25 per week. Registration is required.

Once Upon a Time Story Hour will continue throughout the summer on Wednesdays at 10:30 am outdoors at McCarroll Park. The Story Tent also returns to the Meaford Farmers’ Market every Friday from 4 to 5pm. Come to both of these events to hear stories and make a craft to take home. Free family fun for everyone!

On Tuesday, July 7 at 1 pm, Ronald McDonald will be in the Junior Library for a free family event–Reading with Ronald! Join Ronald McDonald as he presents an interactive and fun story time. After July 7, Tuesdays will feature a DIY activity at 1 pm. Registration is required for the Tuesday activities.

Teen Time will be happening on Wednesdays at 1 pm. For teens who enjoy crafts or who just want to socialize, this time is for you! Every week there will be a new DIY activity and snacks. Come out and make duct tape wallets, or try our Iron Chef competition! Ages 13 and up.

Thursdays will feature a new program called Reel Deal for children ages 7 to 12. Starting at 1 pm, this program will explore book-to-film adaptations. Each week will feature a popular book turned movie—there will be crafts based on the story, the soundtrack will be played, and both the book and movie will be available for children to take home.

Also new this summer is Full STEAM Ahead held on Fridays at 1 pm for children ages 7 to 12. This program will focus on STEAM: Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. Explore space, make structures, learn about magnets, and more. Full STEAM Ahead allows children to create inventions based on these five subjects.
