100 Women Who Care Donate More Than $100,000 to Local Charities in 2024

$29,000 was recently presented to the Salvation Army Wiarton, the chosen charity of 100 Women Who Care Grey Bruce at their November meeting.

This generous $29,000 donation will do more than support our mission – it will create valuable opportunities for building relationships that lead to lasting transformation. This money will assist us in nurturing strong connections, which will enable individuals to flourish and ignite positive change that extends far beyond the gift itself,” said Roni Delleman, Community and Family Services Manager at the Salvation Army. “The Salvation Army Wiarton provides many programs in our community including a Community and Family Services (CFS) Department which offers a variety of programs.  One of these programs is the management and operations of the Bruce Peninsula Community Food Bank, distributing over 32,000 kilograms of food per annum.  The CFS Department assists clients with essentials such as clothing, shelter, utilities, Christmas hampers, and connections with other services that will assist in improving quality of life and basic needs.  Trades Start is a life-changing program offered at the Salvation Army Wiarton Community Church.  Participants begin with a one-week, in-house orientation followed by skills training for a period of 3-6 weeks.”

The primary focus of Salvation Army Wiarton is to support and enhance the quality of life for the residents of Grey Bruce communities, a focus shared by both the Salvation Army and 100 Women Who Care.

Salvation Army Wiarton serves the residents of South Bruce Peninsula,  Georgian Bluffs, and North Bruce Peninsula with extensive programs including monthly Seniors’ Luncheons, bi-monthly Community meals, a Children’s Literacy Program, Children’s Summer Camp Programs, Grub Hub summertime kids’ lunch program, CAP Personal Budgeting, Community Volunteer Income Tax Clinic, Pathway of Hope one-on-one support program, and Guide By Your Side mentoring program.

The $29,000 100 Women Who Care donation will be used to support the Food Bank, the Community Meals program and will send kids to camp. To check out the impactful work Salvation Army Wiarton does, or to consider being a volunteer, go to https://salvationarmywiarton.ca/
