Dear Editor,
I saw some of the debate on sexual misconduct in the military. Then I saw the interview with the health minister where she would not talk to those being too blunt. What they had in common was that no one took responsibility for their own actions.
Yes there were government mistakes, but what did each of those MPs or MPPs do to stop the horror? Every one had the opportunity to step in and insist that the reports sitting in storage be acted upon. Only Alex Ruff apologized for his lack of action when he had the opportunity to stop it, while he was in service. Every government for decades knew which LTC homes were not being honourable. How many ex-premiers are on the boards of directors in the for-profit homes? If 4,000 people died it is because every MPP did nothing to stop it. I wrote many letters to many MPPs about what I saw in the homes and was ignored. If there was sexual evil it is because every MP ignored it. It is time ALL our representatives bought a new mirror and ask, “Who is really responsible?”
Sincerely,
Roberta Docherty, Meaford
