Dear Editor,
My brother’s only income is the provincially funded ODSP as he is on a disability pension. The guarantee of a basic income would be life-changing for him because it would mean a pay-raise. He is 60 years old and is having difficulty paying his rent and buying groceries, let alone having heat to live and cook.
Personally, I think a Basic Income is mandatory.
Everyone wants to get rich quick. Everyone who has shares in any corporation, including a corporation that provides heating fuel to those who can pay, would rather a Basic Income, to ensure that everyone can pay.
One of my sons is probably going to go on ODSP shorty. I, of course, am worried about his finances afterward. I think a basic income will help him too.
Sincerely,
Darryl Birch, Meaford
